His mother, Sadra, was born
on Romulus as a "Romulanized Vulcan." A third generation Vulcan raised
and living as a full Romulan citizen. She was a teacher of the "Vulcan
Arts" which included all the mental disciplines. Being raised as a Romulan,
however, emotion wasn't suppressed though logic just came naturally.
His father, Ranor, was born on Remus and was a tactical scientist.
During the Romulan/Vulcan
Reunification, Rentor was sent to Vulcan as an exchange student. His
studies there came with difficulty. He often responded with hostility
(and violently) towards the teachers when corrected and was subjected
to regular nerve pinches. As a result, Rentor is now immune to the Vulcan
nerve pinch. Despite his Vulcan lineage (which he violently denies)
he showed no ability at the Vulcan psionic abilities beyond a naturally
"closed" mind.
When he came of age he joined
the Romulan Imperial Navy. In his fifth year of study he was suddenly
transferred into the ranks of the Tal'shair after the mysterious disappearance
of two of this instructors. He received no further negative evaluations
during his schooling.
He served eight years as
a Tal'shair officer with several awards and commendations that remain
classified.
Transferred to the Diplomatic
Corp and assigned to the Federation Star Base 109 in the Delta Quadrant.
Within the first eight hours after arriving, he was attacked by an insane
Star Fleet Officer who later claimed to be harboring a dead Vulcan within
his mind. The attack consisted of an attempted nerve pinch and while
he was in no danger of losing consciousness to the nerve pinch, nearly
having his shoulder and collar bones crushed by the insane strength
did drive him to his knees.
In 2396.7 he was suspected
of engineering the capture and torture (mental rape) of Admiral Kavak
(then Quadrant second-in-command) as well as brain washing [name withheld]
(former security chief, then XO and future CO of SB109)
In 2397.2 he was responsible
for the Romulan capture of Star Base 109. Romulan intelligence never
learned that he was also responsible for the escape of Admiral Kavak
(then the Quadrant Commander) or the disabling of the Stations offensive
and defensive abilities that allowed the Federation to recapture the
station with the loss of only one Federation ship.
Is suspected of assassinating
then Praetor. The succeeding Praetor sued for successful peace with
the Federation within six months.
In 2397.8 the Praetor summoned
Ohnsoon to Romulus and subsequently exiled him from the Star Empire
for the suspected assassination of a Praetor. Ohnsoon fled to the Federation
and, with only an endorsement from Admiral Kavak, was given an appointment
to see the Federation President.
After a month of intense
debriefing, he was granted admission to Star Fleet Academy by Presidential
order where he spent the next two years proving to everyone that he
was devout in his loyalty to the Federation.
He often thinks back and
wonders when his loyalties shifted. The thought always ends with a whispered
"I don't know"
